ArisHost apologizes for any inconvenience caused to registrants who encountered difficulties with our Registration Auto-renew feature. Here are some important things clients need to know about registration renewal and the Auto-renew feature:

• The Auto-renew feature can be used by registrants anytime, but please take note that:
  • Renewals made via the Auto-renew feature 56 days or more before registration expiration are put on queue. That is, those renewals are effected only 55 days or less before the accounts expire.
  • Renewals made via the Auto-renew feature 55 days or less before the accounts expire are effected immediately. Renewal confirmation will be sent via e-mail.
  • Registrants will be notified of the 55-day period by ArisHost customer care personnel via e-mail.

Please make sure that you really intend to renew your registration before you use the Auto-renew feature. Renewal requets are immediately either queued or processed once the "process" button is clicked.

An increasing number of domain name registration companies are making unsolicited offers to registrants of other firms. If you have received anything similar, or want to learn more about it, just email abuse@arishost.com. Below are excerpts of a warning-letter from a partner-registrar.

We would like to advise you of a business practice that is becoming common in the domain marketplace and may result in you losing customers. With increasing frequency, companies are making unsolicited offers directed towards existing registrants of other firms.

A company will send a letter (sometimes email, sometimes postal) to a domain registrant thanking them for either registering, or renewing their domain name. The letter will also invite them, in language that suggests a prior business relationship exists with the soliciting company, to make some change to the domain, or to renew it, which would result in the name being transferred to the new organization.

Recent examples of this aggressive solicitation campaign are from Domain Registry of Canada/America and Verisign. Their language encourages renewal with them, instead of the registrant's current registration service provider. We have found that a large number of registrants who receive these notices believe that the letter is from their existing registration service provider, and do not understand that they are in fact requesting a transfer to a new company, who may not provide similar services.





ArisHost Launches its ISP Reseller Program

ArisHost officially launches its latest project-the ArisHost Internet Service Provider (ISP) Reseller Program. The program allows those with ArisHost accounts to resell Internet connection services at their own rate. ArisHost will give ISP accounts to its resellers for only $6.25 a month. There are regulations created by ICANN that specifically assert the rights of webmasters and owners to transfer domains to their registrar of choice.

This reminder comes in light of many ArisHost customers whose requests for transfer have been denied by Network Solutions, Inc. (NSI). These transfer failures are being attributed by NSI to the customers’ inability to respond to their confirmation within a specified time. However, according to ICANN, losing registrars CANNOT deny transfers simply because they claim to have not received a response from the domain owners.

Louis Touton, the Vice President and General Counsel for ICANN, writes Christine A. Russo, Manager of Contracts and Compliance at VeriSign Global Registry Services: "The allocation of responsibility does indicate, however, that the losing registrar may not deny a transfer request that the gaining registrar has verified merely because the losing registrar has not verified it. Thus, a losing registrar should not deny a transfer request simply because it has notified the Registered Name Holder of the request and has not received a response."
