ArisHost Designs
The fact that design can make or break a website is something that many webmasters
have had to contend with. Top-notch content will most likely be passed up for sites
with the Flash intro, cool animated links, and jazzy colors. Yet, not many know or
have the time to learn all available software and programming languages. Web design
requires an understanding of aesthetics, content, and user-friendliness; while
needing some scientific acumen to know multiple programming codes and applications.
Again, ArisHost realizes this issue and has come up with another powered-up service.
The company is now offering the expertise of its crack Creative Design Team for
clients to optimize the potential of their sites. According to an ArisHost official,
"We figured our customers had enough to worry about in terms of content and maintenance,
so we're taking a load off their backs. Where else can you get a professional web design
team to create, setup, and even deploy your site at a very practical rate of $8.95 per hour?"
Clients just need to select Web Design Services when they sign-up with ArisHost. A
representative will then call them up to plan and negotiate service terms. From there,
they're all set!

Market Profile: Kids (The First in a Series)
Despite the caution and doubt that dotcoms have come to approach doing business online,
the 'connected' market is actually growing, increasing opportunities for B2C web companies.
Case to point is the steadily rising number of online seniors. From a mere 19 percent in 1997,
the 50++ age market has reached 38 percent by 2000. That's for more than 13% of America's population-and
the numbers are growing.
Seniors online are a highly unexploited market segment that has grown over the years. This is an
odd fact, since most of these Internet users have an annual income of more than $50,000, as employees
or through their own businesses. 31 percent have liquid assets over $100,000, while 15 percent have more
than $250,000. They go online mostly to touch base with loved ones via email (93%), or find information
about hobbies (58%), news (55%) and health issues (53%). The 50++ lifestyle is that of stability and
affluence; with this market group exceeding average levels in domestic and international travel, buying
top-line consumer goods such as cell phones, and getting highly involved in leisure activities, such as
socializing, television, reading and indoor hobbies.
Only around 21 percent of this online age group have made purchases via the Internet in recent years-a
sign perhaps of unfocused e-commerce marketing. Seniors online have yet to be taken seriously by dotcoms,
considering the few websites dedicated to them and their interests. Yet their numbers are growing, beginning
in the late 1990s when consumerist baby-boomers logged in as part of this group. Internet accesses by seniors
increase by 18 percent bi-annually. It's just a matter of taking this information and translating it to
market-focused websites and sales.

The ArisHost site of the week:
www.wtcenter.net
Wtcenter.net went up shortly after the tragedy of September 11, 2001, when four commercial flights were
hijacked and crashed in three places, killing thousands of Americans. The website is a memorial to the
victims of that day, as well as an online log of developments and sentiments about democracy's current
struggle. Visit the site to get updates, find out links to news sites and charitable institutions, view
relevant pictures, and voice out feelings and opinions through article submission and the message board.

I want my website to be for everyone, regardless of age or background. Is this possible or should I set my sights on just one group? --- Thumb in every pie
Well, it's not entirely impossible. There are websites that grab a big chunk of the online market across backgrounds and age groups. Email sites like YahooMail and Hotmail have a great mix of users, as well as search sites such as Google and Yahoo. But, normally it's hard for an average website to penetrate a large market without dedicated and superior technical systems-and this costs several thousands of dollars. The best you could do is target two similar markets, say females in their 20s and 30s, through a shared interest, such as career, hygiene and relationships.
