Warning on Unsolicited Renewal Offers
ArisHost warns everyone of an unscrupulous business practice that is now becoming quite common in the domain name market place. AH! has learned that an increasing number of domain name registration companies are making unsolicite d offers to registrants of other firms. These registrants receive a letter (e-mail or post) from such companies thanking them for either registering or renewing their domains. Said companies then offer registrants options to make changes to or renew their domains. Domain owners who are tricked into believing that they have existing business relationships with these solicitors will then avail of the offers and unknowingly transfer their domains. A lot of registrants stand to suffer losses should this conti nue.
ArisHost advises everyone concerned to take necessary precautions. Please be assured that ArisHost is doing whatever it can to protect its registrants. If you receive a letter similar to that stated above, kindly email abuse@arishost.com to report the matter.

II. “You ain’t nothin’ but a Hound Dog:" A Report on Search Engines
There are two main types of cyberspace “sniffers”: the crawler-based search engines and the human-powered directories. Crawler-based engines use software agents like “spiders” that prowl the web for information related to a searc h. Human-powered directories rely on good old-fashioned editors who review web pages. Now, if you want any degree of success on the Internet, you’ll have to submit your site so it can be easily picked by any type of search engine. It is wise to put in me ta tags and still configure your site’s contents for human-edited directories.
As said in the previous article on meta tags, keywords are crucial. Good keyword selection usually results in high ranking with search engines. When coming up with your keywords, remember that not everyone thinks like you do so m ake sure all bases are covered. Think in reverse. Ask yourself the question, “If I were looking for my site, how would I find it?” Call a couple of friends over and let them list down what queries they would put in a search for your site.
Also, search engines prefer web pages with keywords that are ideally located on top of the page. Spiders don’t really like going too deep while on searches- keep that in mind. Try using your target keywords for your page headline . Put them in the first paragraphs of your web page. Just place them where they can easily be seen.
One more thing: though there are always meta tags at your disposal should your site be graphic-rich, nothing beats text. It’s always helpful to present your web site via content and not rely on visuals alone.

In the all-too-often all-too-boring world of computers, we must thank the digital gods for websites like alltooflat.com. This site busts gut, period. A cheese-based bible, a vegetable with personality, advice from a fish, scienti st trading cards, wild geeks, plus a lot more. A blurb on the site's owners sums it up pretty much: " Who are you guys, and why do you have so much time on your hands?" They put their time to good use though, serving up a ton of laughs. The name? Just che ck out www.alltooflat.com to find out.
